Surrey Search & Rescue

Our specialist SRT’s (Swifterwater Rescue Technicians) were deployed tonight (23 Jan)  in support of Mole Valley Beat (Surrey Police) who needed an item of interest recovered from a hard to reach location.

It was certainly a cold night to be in the River Mole but the team are all safely home and always happy to use our skills to help Surrey Police in any way we can.

We are appealing for witnesses after a collision in Charlwood yesterday (Thursday, 19 January).

Officers were called to Horley Road at around 6.25pm following reports of a collision between a Mini Cooper and a Citroen C3.

Both drivers of the vehicles sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital.

Vehicle seen in #Dorking yesterday, shown as no MOT, insurance or VEL.

Once stopped, #VanguardRST were told there was a trader policy but unable to confirm driver details.

Went to use fingerprint scanner where driver admitted they gave false details & is disqualified Driver also failed a #DrugWipe.

Driver arrested & remanded to court today where they received a 6 week suspended prison sentence for driving disqual, further disqual for 38 months with ex test.

Vehicle seized.

We await the results of bloods.

The staff in our Contact Centre and Force Control Room are often seen as the unsung heroes, they are constantly busy playing a vital role in supporting victims and keeping the public safe.

This week we held our first Wellbeing Week for them. This was an opportunity to give a little back to the teams, as well as recognise and celebrate the continued hard work and dedication from the staff.

This week, Detective Inspector Ant Preston (pictured) has been speaking to BBC Radio Surrey and BBC South discussing the work of Surrey’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT).

Tackling online child sex abuse is a priority for the Force and during the radio interview DI Preston explains how “the key goal for us is to get the evidence indicating that there has been communication between suspects and children and making sure we get as much of that information as possible before the courts.”
