Message following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Following the sad death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II our sincere and heartfelt condolences go to the Royal Family.

For many in our communities we recognise her loss will be keenly felt as the Queen has been a constant figurehead during our lifetimes.

Over the coming days we will be working in our communities to signpost people to all the information they may need about what to expect. Useful websites to direct people to include www.royal.ukwww.gov.ukwww.surreycc.gov.uk and your local authority pages.

As a mark of respect, and in line with national protocol, Union Flags are being flown at half-mast on police buildings for the duration of the period of national mourning. The exception to this will be during the proclamation for the new monarch when flags will be raised to full mast before being lowered again the following day.

Please be aware that along with all police forces in the UK, we will be restricting our external communications and social media activity during the mourning period to urgent operational matters and content relevant to the upcoming funeral arrangements.

Planning has been underway for this sad occasion for some time so please be assured that we can and will continue to police as normal as well as provide any resourcing which may be needed for this event.

May she rest in peace.
