Witness Appeal

We are continuing to appeal for witnesses after an off-duty Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) was stabbed in Esher on Tuesday afternoon (21 June).

The PCSO had left Elmbridge Police Station and was walking through Old Church Path (a walkway between the Civic Centre car park, Esher High Street and Esher Park Avenue) when she was approached by a teenage boy and stabbed in the arm at around 2.50pm. She received hospital treatment for serious injuries and is recovering at home.

The boy is described as White, aged around 14-15 years old and of slim build. He was wearing black trousers and black footwear with a black hooded top and a surgical face mask. He is believed to have fled the scene in the direction of Esher Park Avenue.

Two 15-year-old boys and a 14-year-old boy were arrested in Claygate a short time later, on suspicion of attempted murder. They have been released under investigation and enquiries remain ongoing.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or noticed any suspicious behaviour in the area, or may have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage of the surrounding area between the hours of 2pm and 3.15pm.

Detective Inspector Gareth Hicks, who is investigating the incident, said: “Understandably, staff have been left appalled by this attack.

“Our colleague is recovering at home and is being given the appropriate welfare support.

“We are working round the clock to investigate this attack and need to hear from anyone who may have any information which could help our investigation, including CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage of the surrounding area between 2pm and 3.15pm”.

If you have any information, including CCTV or dashcam footage, please report by using the Major Incident Public Portal, via this link https://mipp.police.uk/operation/4522K57-PO1

If you do not wish to leave your name, please call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
