Mole Valley Beat Bulletin Thursday 23rd June 2022

Good Morning,

A man who broke into another man’s house and assaulted him will serve 18 months behind bars after being found guilty of burglary and assault on Friday (17 June).

Levi Burton, 27, of Oak Ridge, #Dorking, broke into an address in Rushett Drive, #Dorking, around 1am on 13 May while the two occupants were both asleep.

One of the occupants was woken by Burton breaking in through the patio doors and both occupants confronted him. Burton proceeded to punch one of the occupants five times, before hitting him over the head with his walking stick a number of times.

The two men managed to get away from Burton by barricading themselves into another room.

Minutes later, police arrived and challenged Burton as he was trying to make off from the address. He refused to comply and was Tasered before being arrested.

Further enquiries revealed that a set of keys and an iPhone had been taken from the address. The keys were discovered after Burton was searched, while officers found the phone which he had discarded just prior to his arrest.

None of us want to think our hard earned money is funding criminals to exploit other people, but this is the sad reality across some hand car washes, nail bars, takeaways, and services offered at our door.

Be observant when using these services and trust your instincts; if something doesn’t feel right then it most likely isn’t.

As consumers we all have the power to drive exploiters out of our communities, by not providing the demand for their business, all it takes is for us to choose not to spend our money with them.

If you suspect that someone is being exploited, call the Modern Slavery Helpline on 08000 121 700.

It’s scary, but 1/3 of sexual images of children found on the web, are images produced & shared by youths themselves. Often done as a joke, through peer pressure or as flirting, a pic shared between two can fast become a viral phenomenon. Info & tips here https://bit.ly/3zSbttX

Appeal for information after three puppies stolen over the weekend

Officers have been busy investigating the thefts of three puppies that occurred over the weekend across the county, in two incidents that are believed to be linked.

A chihuahua puppy was stolen from an address in Sunbury-on-Thames on Saturday, 18 June, and two cocker spaniel puppies were stolen from an address in Farnham on Sunday, 19 June. It is believed the suspects feigned interested in buying the dogs, before fleeing the scene with them.
