A local Runnymede Casualty Reduction Officer spotted a  driver on the wrong side of a keep left sign towards oncoming traffic in Egham. The driver had no insurance and only a provisional licence. The vehicle was seized and the driver reported to Court.

PCSO Orriss has been patrolling Gogmore Farm Park in Chertsey following reports of suspicious activity taking place around school times. If you see anything suspicious please call 101 or report online at https://www.surrey.police.uk/contact-us/report-online/

PC Langtree and  PCSO Lawford have been  out on cycle patrol across the North of the Borough, using our electric bicycles. These are a great way to access places our cars can’t get to and we can cover a lot more ground than when we’re on foot. It’s the first time (of hopefully many) that PC Langtree has used one. So far  he has covered well over 10 miles and has had some great chats with members of the community.

A Section 59 warning has been issued to the rider of a Stomp bike following reports of it being used to cause harassment alarm and distress to members of the public in Strawberry Fields, Row Town. If the rider uses it again or the bike is used by anyone else anti-socially, it will be seized. Please report anti-social behaviour by calling 101 or reporting online.

We were delighted to welcome Eamonn Holmes to our offices in Staines this week  as part of Response Policing Week. Eamonn spent time talking to our officers and staff and finding out about the great work they do on a daily basis in keeping the county and people of Surrey safe and feeling safe.

At 05:30 this morning Runnymede response officers were called by a resident of Bond Street in Englefield Green reporting a male entering an unattended South East Coast Ambulance and taking items from within. When confronted by the crew he had the paramedics bag on his back and began to cycle away from the area. A patrolling dog unit heard the call over the radio and intercepted, joined quickly by colleagues who arrested the suspect on suspicion of Theft From Motor Vehicle. He was volatile and during the journey to Staines custody and  he assaulted one of the PCs by kicking him in the face. The male was further arrested for assaulting an emergency service worker.

A number of counterfeit £20 notes have been taken out of circulation having been presented in shops in the Egham area.

Congratulations and good luck to PCSO Ross Freeman who spends his last shift on the Runnymede Safer Neighbourhood Team today before commencing his training as a Police Constable at Headquarters shortly. Ross was nominated for PCSO of the year for his engagements in Egham town and the Royal Holloway University campuses.

A nice story -  Leanne, one of our Investigating Officers for Surrey Police, recently helped reunite the owner of a gold wedding band, with their ring.  Leanne was off-duty and spotted a post on a Facebook page trying to find who might own the ring. Leanne’s role with us meant that she naturally couldn’t pass on the challenge of trying to find who the owners could be. The tricky part being that as Leanne was not working and was at home, she was only able to use the power of search engines and social media. Leanne managed to find a potential match from a newspaper announcement of a marriage in 1957, and then tracked down who she hoped were the owners on social media. A few days later, Leanne was contacted by John’s son, David, who contacted Leanne to inform her that she had in fact tracked down the rightful owners of the ring. John’s wife, Eileen, sadly passed away two days before he lost the ring, so to be able to reunite him with it at such a devastating time, made it even more heart-warming for Leanne.  We’re sure you’ll agree, it’s a lovely story, and we are so pleased that the training our Investigating Officers go through, not only helps them when they are working, but also for moments like these!
