Fraudsters have a lot of tricks up their sleeves and in Surrey, 50% of investment fraud takes place over the phone.
Some signs to look out for:
- Fraudsters will try to sell investments in emerging markets that will lead to quick wins.
- They will do their homework and make it their business to know as much as possible about you and will call you a few times to build a relationship and get to know you.
In the last year, there were 112 victims of investment fraud in Surrey alone – with £122,020 on average lost. |
