It’s d/Deaf Awareness Week!

Surrey Police has several ways for users with a hearing or speech impairment, or deaf-blind communities, to contact us:

In an emergency:

  • As well as using our textphone service on 18000, you can use our 999 emergency text service. Please note, you must register your mobile phone first.
  • Pegasus Card Scheme: If you have speech or communication difficulties, join our Pegasus card scheme, which could save you time and help you in an emergency.
  • If It’s not an emergency:

  • We have partnered with SignVideo who provide an online interpreting service in real time. This technology allows access for deaf BSL users to Police services via Video Remote Interpreting (VRI).
  • Textphone Service: If you have a hearing or speech impairment, use our textphone service on 18001 101.
