Bicycle marking event:

Mole Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team will be hosting a bicycle marking event at Meadowbank Park, Dorking on the 19th of April from 1300-1500.

We look forward to seeing you there!

April marks 10 years since the beginning of Operation Tramline when our first HGV cab went out on our roads with the police in an innovative way to deter unsafe driving.

Since then, more than 51,500 offences have been recorded by officers from 35 different police forces patrolling across the country in an Operation Tramline cab.

Here are some of the riskiest road behaviours we have seen:

🍟People eating takeaways, a bowl of cereal and even one scoffing a lasagne with a knife and fork while driving

πŸ’„A driver applying her makeup while travelling along on of our motorways

🚚A driver steering a huge vehicle transporter with just his elbows along the M40

πŸ“±πŸ“±Drivers using two mobile phones at a time -and one that was placing an online order with a phone in one hand and holding their credit card in the other

πŸš—A driver playing with a Rubik cube while manoeuvring through M25 traffic

πŸš—And based on data from 2018 to 2022, 24% of fatalities on our roads were not wearing a seatbelt, and motorists are also four times more likely to be in a collision if using a mobile phone while driving.

🚚🚨The majority of drivers are sensible behind the wheel, but some drivers put themselves and others at risk through dangerous behaviour.

🚚🚨Road safety is a shared responsibility. Help us make our roads safer for everyone.

Vehicle seen being driven erratically in Leatherhead

Stopped by #VanguardRST, who asked the driver to provide a sample of saliva for a #DrugWipe, this came back with a positive indication for cannabis.

Therefore, the driver was arrested, and bloods were obtained for analysis. #Fatal5

On Friday, April 4, officers executed a search warrant at an address in Dorking, after being made aware of suspicious activity taking place at the property.

As a result, officers seized class A and class B drugs along with a significant amount of cash.

A 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs. The case remains under investigation.

Safer Neighbourhood Team officer, Stephen Grout said: "We recognise that incidents like this may raise concerns within the Mole Valley community and we want to assure the public that warrants are a crucial tool in our efforts to protect the community from drugs.

We encourage anyone with information about drug-related activities to report it anonymously to the police via Crimestoppers, helping us keep our community safe".

We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision in Abinger Hammer.

Officers were called to the A25 at around 5.40pm this evening (Sunday, 6 April), following a collision between the rider of a motorcycle and the driver of a car. The motorcycle rider has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Guildford Road (A25) is currently closed between Felday Road and Raikes Lane, but we anticipate this will reopen within the hour.

We are looking to speak to anyone who might have witnessed this collision, or anyone with CCTV, dashcam, or helmet cam footage that may have captured all or part of this incident.

If you have any information that might assist our investigation, please contact us quoting PR/45250040724.
