Officers, along with Surrey Fire and Rescue, were called to a fire at a house on Laburnum Road in Chertsey at around 6.10pm on 17 March. The fire was successfully put out and fortunately nobody was injured, although some residents were taken to hospital as a precaution. An 18-year-old woman from Hounslow and a 17-year-old boy from Epsom were arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and remain in police custody. Runnymede Borough Commander Ian Nash said; “We appreciate that this will have caused concern to the local community, however a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, and at this time we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.” If you saw anything suspicious, or have any information that may help our investigation, please contact us at Contact us | Surrey Police quoting PR/45250031800. If you do not wish to speak to police, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
