Sue Stevens is one of our much-loved office managers, working as part of the Northern CID, Child Abuse and Domestic Abuse teams. Having worked at Surrey Police for seven years, Sue has become a fundamental part of the team.  Nominating Sue, Detective Inspector Charlotte Lindsay, of North Surrey's Proactive Teams, said: "Sue is an asset to North Surrey; she is the glue between all the departments. Nothing is ever too much for Sue, she brings joy and laughter and is everyone’s friend. "We could not run the North without her." Sue has said ‘I have a wide variety of admin tasks that can be extremely different but always interesting in investigations. I try to do whatever I can to support the teams in any way, to make their lives easier so that they can concentrate on their workloads. I am here to help and thoroughly enjoy the challenges the teams present me with on a day-to-day basis. I consider it a privilege to help in any way I can. I am very much involved with all areas of investigations, from our morning briefing, to covert operations and documenting important information on our systems. My day is always busy, and can involve just about anything, which is why I love it. I would encourage anyone to apply. I started as a volunteer and am delighted with my current role. It is a great place to work. I have huge admiration and respect for everyone who I have been lucky enough to work with at Surrey Police.

Do you remember us telling you about our lovely Police Dog Ludo? When he and his handler were dealing with a situation in Staines in September 2024, PD Ludo was hit multiple times with a metal pole.

Dean Moore, 35 (DOB: 23/07/1989) from Staines-Upon-Thames was arrested and charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal. In Surrey's first prosecution under Finn's Law - legislation which was introduced to give our service animals the protection they deserve as they dedicate their lives to keeping us safe - Moore was sentenced to three months imprisonment - suspended for 18-months - and must carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and has been banned from owning animals for 10 years. PC Cosmatos, who investigated the case, said: "Our service animals are 'one of us' - rigorously trained to put themselves in harms-way to protect us. Attacking our animals, who are carrying out their duty, will not be tolerated and I'm pleased that justice has been served." PD Ludo’s handler, PC Larkin said: “Ludo recovered well and soon returned by my side on duty, but now, after more than six years of service, he’s retiring and going to live with the volunteer family who raised him as a puppy under our Puppy Minder programme. Happy retirement Ludo, you deserve it!”

Recently, local officers PC Hodgkins and PC Waddington were on patrol in Walton when they stopped a vehicle acting suspiciously. The nervous driver was subsequently detained for a search under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. During the search a cigarette box was located containing 16 snap bags of suspected cocaine along with an estimated £1,000 in cash. The driver was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A controlled drugs and driving without insurance.
