When your house is undergoing renovations or building work, it is more vulnerable to burglars.

To reduce the risk there are a few steps you and your builders can take:

Remove all ladders and climbing aids nightly and lock them away

Put extra security lighting on the upper levels of the extension/scaffolding at night to deter burglars climbing up

Record serial numbers and place appropriate markings on tools

Lock and secure any links from the building work into the main house to avoid easy access for burglars

Buying tickets online? Always be wary of bank transfer requests, especially if buying from someone you don’t know.

Whenever possible, pay by credit if you have one, as it offers better buyer protection in case anything goes wrong.

More to Mole Valley

Communities will be coming together to mark the anniversary of the end of WWII in early May this year, as part of VE Day 80.

Celebrations could involve a village event or street party on the anniversary itself, Thursday 8 May, or perhaps during the Early May Bank Holiday weekend.

Should your planned event require the temporary closure of a public road, please get your applications in to us well in advance so we can process it in time. Cul-de-sac closures require applications to be with us at least four weeks in advance of an event, while residential through roads need a minimum of eight weeks’ notice.
