A serial shoplifter who offended whilst already on probation has been sent to prison and given a court fine. Michael Davis, 40 (DOB: 05/09/84), of Hatton Gardens, Mitcham, was arrested and remanded by police after being linked to the following offences: • Theft of jackets from TK MAXX in Epsom on 6 January, 2025. • Theft of sandwiches from Co-Op in Epsom on 9 December, 2024. • Theft of confectionery from BP garage in Croydon 6 November, 2024. • Theft of sunglasses from Boots in Dorking on 4 November, 2024. He was further charged with breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) which was put in place by the courts in September last year as well as with an offence of Vehicle Interference on 9 November 2024 in Croydon. Davis’s CBO order prohibited him from entering any shop which sells goods without a means to pay and from concealing any items within any retail premises. On Saturday, 15 February, he appeared at Guildford Magistrates’ Court and was sentenced to 16 months in prison and given a court fine. Borough Commander for Epsom and Ewell, Tommy Pearson, said: “Having worked hard to get a CBO order in place for Davis, it meant the team were able to secure a harsher sentence for any further offending by him. I hope this reassures the community that we will not tolerate shoplifting and are working with the legal system to target prolific offenders who blight local businesses.” | ||||
