Police funding - have you had your say yet?

There is still time to give your view on whether you would be willing to pay a little extra to support policing teams in Surrey over the coming year.

Police and Crime Commissioner Lisa Townsend is asking residents whether they’d be prepared to pay an additional £1.16 a month on an average household council tax bill to help fund the ‘fast-improving’ police service in Surrey.

In the last year, criminal charges in the county have more than doubled, while our officers have made an additional 2,500 arrests.

The Commissioner said: “Surrey Police is tackling those offences that are important to residents, including burglary, shoplifting, and violence against women and girls. The progress we have seen in recent months has been fantastic.

“Chief Constable Tim De Meyer’s plan is working, and Surrey is one of the fastest-improving forces in the country. But there is still more to do.

"In order to sustain this momentum, support our hardworking police teams and ensure we are protecting victims - I’m asking if you’re prepared to pay a little more over the coming year.”

Our survey takes just two minutes to complete. It closes at midnight on February 1.
