A man who crashed into a parked car while more than double the drink drive limit was disqualified from driving last week. The collision happened in Farncombe on 10 November, and the driver failed to stop at the scene. When officers caught up with him, he admitted he’d had a drink 20 minutes before but claimed to have driven into bollards, not another car. He then blew 81 at the roadside (the legal limit is 35). He was banned from driving for two years (24 months) and fined more than £1000 when appearing at court on Christmas Eve.
A man has been sentenced to four months in prison after pleading guilty to eight different thefts of over £2300 worth of items from a BP petrol station in East Molesey. Ryan Lloyd, DOB 13/08/1984, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Staines Magistrates Court on Monday 30 December. Lloyd was arrested on the evening of 27 December after officers were flagged down by an employee who had seen him concealing items in his jacket. Whilst in custody Lloyd then admitted to eight shoplifting offences over the months of November and December and was remanded in custody to appear in court.
Volunteer Police Cadet Leader Gabriella Fox, joined us in 2019. Gabriella has told us she was interested in joining the police when she was older and the Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC) was the perfect organisation to get involved with. The VPC offered lots of things that appealed to her such as, weekly meetings to learn about law and what the police do, as well as activities outside of meetings like local fairs and test purchasing. By the time she turned 18 she had decided that joining the police was not a career that suited her. However, she loved cadets and still wanted to contribute to local communities as well as young people, so she decided to volunteer as a cadet leader. She really enjoys volunteering out in the community, doing events such as cooking for a local care home and going out to promote cadets. She also enjoys volunteering alongside young people, sharing knowledge and helping them to settle into the cadets. Charlotte Anderton is one of our Crime Scene Investigators (CSI) and is responsible for examining crime scenes, including in volume crime (burglary dwellings, car thefts) and major crime (violent crime, homicide). It is her role to search for and forensically recover any DNA, trace and footwear marks or fingerprints that may help to identify an offender. She joined Surrey Police in 2001 as a special constable while working for cosmetic firm Estee Lauder. She later joined the Force as a part-time forensic assistant within the Forensic Investigations department, working in the same office as the CSIs, which she found fascinating. After five years, she was lucky enough to secure her role as a CSI. Her role is to identify an offender and play her part in getting justice for the victim, while also hoping to provide some reassurance and comfort to the victims
