Tackling drink and drug driving offences

On Saturday officers out conducting foot patrols as part of Safer Redhill were alerted to a possible drink driver in the area. After a short search they located a vehicle on Wordsworth Mead and the driver was arrested on suspicion of being unfit through drink or drugs.

John O’Toole, 66, (18/11/1958), of no fixed abode, was charged with failing to provide a specimen of breath and has been bailed to attend Guildford Magistrates Court on Thursday, 16 January 2025.

Tackling drink and drug driving offences is a key priority this month during our winter crackdown campaign, Op Limit. Drink and drug driving are part of the ‘Fatal Five’ contributory factors that cause serious road traffic collisions, and our officers are committed to holding those who choose to drive under the influence to account.
