We will be escorting an abnormal load containing an MRI machine and a CT Scanner for a community hospital development through Surrey tomorrow.
The units require a police escort due to their extended widths. They will travel in two loads to a holding location on Friday.
One convoy will travel from Northumberland via the A1, M1, and M25, travelling as far as J12 before heading south on the M3 to the holding location. This journey will not be subject to a police escort.
The other convoy will travel from Ashford Hospital down the A30 to J13, before heading east on the M25 and south on the M3 to the holding location. This journey will not be subject to a police escort.
On Saturday 23 November the loads will be escorted by Surrey Police from the holding location at around 9am, exiting the M3 at J4 and proceeding along the A331, A31 and A3, before coming off at Ripley and heading south on the A3.
From the A3 they will join the A320 and travel to their final destination of Woking Community Hospital. The Woking one-way system will be temporarily held in order to manoeuvre the loads safely through the town.
Whilst traffic disruption will be kept to a minimum, please be aware if your journey covers any part of this route and leave extra time to travel where possible.
We anticipate some temporary localised disruption as a result, particularly around Woking Community Hospital. This is likely to take place in the early afternoon.
Emergency services will still be able to access the site as required. Woking Community Hospital have made alternative parking arrangements for patients and visitors who need to access the site during the day. | ||||
