Drug dealer sentenced to time behind bars after police discovered hidden phone

The discovery of a phone hidden in a bed frame led to drug dealer Michael Touhey, 32, being sentenced to over three years behind bars.

Officers executed a warrant at Touhey’s home address in Tadworth on 26 July 2023 following intelligence he was linked to the supply of drugs. A thorough search of his house found £395 in cash along with a phone that was hidden in the frame of a bed.

Meticulous analysis of over 10,000 messages on Touhey’s phone showed he was involved in orchestrating the sale of cocaine and cannabis.

Michael Touhey, 32, of Chetwode Road, Tadworth, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis. He appeared at Guildford Crown Court on Friday, 1 November and was sentenced to three years and three months behind bars.

PC Ben Wright from the East Surrey Proactive Investigation Team said: “Our team is continually developing intelligence to identify drug dealers in our county and ensure these criminals are removed from our streets. If you have any information about drug dealing in your area, please report it to us so we can continue to disrupt this activity and stop people bringing harm into our communities.”
