Our police dogs do an amazing job to keep their handlers and the Surrey community safe and we know most people love to see them out and about, or on our channels. However, on the rare occasion they can sometimes get hurt whilst working and this is something we take extremely seriously. Whilst his handler and other officers were dealing with a situation in Staines last week, seven-year-old Police Dog Ludo was hit more than once with a metal pole by a man. A 35-year-old man of no fixed address, has been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal under The Animal Welfare (Service Animals) Act 2019. We are pleased to say that Ludo is recovering well at home with his handler.

Last week we welcomed our latest cohort of police officers in their Pass Out Parade. The event saw the officers achieve Independent Patrol Status surrounded by their friends and family.
