A gentle reminder. #escooter's are motor vehicles. You MUST have a number plate, tax, insurance and have passed a test before using one. Use on roads, pavements or anywhere else is ILLEGAL.

This rider was educated and received an official warning and continued the rest of his journey as a passenger in the vehicle that collected the e-scooter. If this vehicle is used again it will be seized and destroyed and the rider fully prosecuted. Education was imparted in this case as a result of discretion by the #SPCasualtyReduction officers. #Roadsafety #Fetcham

There has been an increase in the reports of theft from cars and vans across Surrey – notably tools and work materials

Extra care should be taken when leaving high-value items within your vehicle – consider removing them when you are leaving your vehicle unattended throughout the day or overnight, forensically mark any tools, and park in a garage or in a way that can make it more difficult to reach.

Remain observant and understand the signs of potential theft from vehicles. These can include:

🚗A person, or small groups of people, looking into vehicles or repeatedly walking or driving through an area

🚙A person, or small groups of people, attempting to get into a van quickly

Suspects should not be approached – instead call 999 straight away, describing as many details as you can.

The number of messaging apps available to us, and crucially our children, is always growing.

The likes of WhatsApp, Snapchat, Vine, Houseparty, Whisper, Blendr and others may appear harmless, but they can in fact be incredibly dangerous to young people.

For parents, it can be hard to keep up with all these apps, but when it comes to your child’s online safety, it is vital that you know what they’re doing.

Some top tips:

✅Stay up to date with the apps that might be available to your child.

✅Talk to your kids regularly about online safety and what to be aware of when it comes to messaging and searching on apps, as well as cyberbullying.

✅Make use of parental control technology to help monitor your child’s app usage if you’re concerned.

We are seeing an increase in reports of distraction theft across the county 📈

Officers are reminding people to remain vigilant with personal belongings in public, such as mobile phones and cash. Whether you are approached, or your attention is diverted by someone, ensure all valuables are safe within your bag and refrain from having them in easily accessible pockets, as this can allow criminals to swipe them quickly while you are otherwise occupied.

If you have been a victim of distraction theft, you can report it here ➡️
