Early evening June 6th your local Safer Neighbourhood Team were out patrolling when this vehicle caught the attention of officers in the Caterham area. The vehicle turned out to be a stolen vehicle bearing false plates with a whole hoard of goodies in the back suspected to be stolen. Three persons under investigation for the offences and the investigation continues to locate where the goods were stolen from.

Two men and one woman have been charged with 12 counts of conspiracy to steal a motor vehicle after appearing at Guildford Magistrates Court on June 5th.

Egle Barkauskaite, 40, (DOB 01/08/1983) and Justinas Volskis, 31, (DOB 24/08/1992) both of Nightingale Way, London, and Orestas Janulevicius, 18, (DOB 09/10/2005) of Pedley Road, Dagenham have all been remanded and will appear at Guildford Magistrates Court on 4 July 2024.

Do you remember the case of the Vauxhall Astra and the fingerprint from December 2023?

Well, the puzzle is now complete after Wberney Bermudaz, (36) born 15/10/1987, was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on June 7th  to 16 months imprisonment for 1 count of residential burglary after pleading guilty.

After identifying the first two suspects, further investigations continued, and a fingerprint match to one left at the scene then linked the third man, Mr Bermudaz to the case. He was subsequently arrested on November 2nd 2023 and charged with Burglary dwelling with intent to steal.

Two Chilean men who were part of a ‘tourist burglary cell’ were sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on December 6th 2023 after and  being  arrested on the M25 on August  2nd 2023 following officers spotting them in a vehicle that had been flagged as being in the vicinity of a number of East Surrey burglaries.

The car, silver Vauxhall Astra, had been flagged as a potential ‘mission vehicle’ and was crucial in linking the two men to their crimes. Following their arrest, addresses linked to the men were also searched, leading to stolen jewellery and watches being uncovered. Items including two walkie talkies, cash in assorted currencies and multiple bottles of perfume were also found at the addresses.

The Surrey burglary offences related to two residential burglaries in Oxted and one in Coulsdon.

The successful prosecution of all three men was the result of a thorough and complex investigation carried out by our officers who used Intel, CCTV, ANPR and forensics to build a complete picture of their criminal activities and bring them to justice.

On June 15th we were made aware of some anti-social behaviour and drug dealing activity around the Halton Road area of Kenley. Officers attended and located a stolen moped that had been involved in some of this activity. We know the individuals involved in these behaviours, and will be seeing them soon.

On June 11th at Westerham Road, Westerham following a call from a member of the public officers arrested two males outside a boarded up and derelict building for burglary and one of the males for possession of a pointed bladed article. Enquiries continue.
