Romance seekers are urged to be on their guard as they look for love this summer, as reports of this devastating fraud have increased by over 8 per cent in the last year.

In the last year, the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau (NFIB), run by the City of London Police, received 8,792 reports of romance fraud, amounting to losses of over £94.7 million. The average loss per person was £10,774.

Thursday 13th June 18:05 – 18:25 Eastwick Park Avenue three packages stolen from doorstep.

 

Thursday 13th June 10:58 Roam n Road Dorking Two men in van drove off after stealing strimmer when resident declined to give them scrap.

 

Between Tuesday 11th and Thursday 13th June Cotmandene theft of front and rear number plates. The vehicle was a Ford Focus Estate.

 

Thursday 13th June 18:00 – Friday 14th June 07:45 Hampstead Road Dorking motorhome stolen was parked on road outside victim’s house. 

 

Saturday 15th June Edenside Road Bookham 18:00 ongoing report of youths kicking football at fence and window of residential address.

 

Your bank or the police will never:

  • Phone and ask you for your PIN or full banking password, even by tapping them into your phone keypad.
  • Ask you to withdraw money to hand over to them for safe-keeping.
  • Ask you to transfer money to a safe account for fraud reasons, even if they say it is in your name.
  • Send someone to your home to collect cash, PIN, cards or cheque books if you are a victim of fraud.
  • Ask you to purchase goods using your card and then hand them over for safe-keeping.

    OXSHOTT RD LEATHERHEADMAN SEEN DRINKING CIDER IN CAR WHILE PARKED IN SUPERMARKET CAR PARK.LOOKED DRUNK. POLICE PATROLS AWARE.
