A male has been fined after pleading guilty to shoplifting offences. William Reed, 35 of no fixed address was arrested on Friday 5th April after police were called to reports of a male being aggressive and that items had been taken from two shops in Egham High Street. On Saturday 6th April, Reed pleaded guilty to theft by shoplifting and was fined £225 at Guildford Magistrates’ Court. He was also banned from entering Egham town centre. PC David Baldwin, Runnymede Safer Neighbourhood team, said: “Shoplifting is not a victimless crime. It can lead to shop workers and owners feeling afraid and intimidated at their place of work and we know it is a worry in the community. As a team, we continue to work closely with shop owners and staff to tackle this”.

Police were out this week proactively patrolling the area of Ottershaw targeting ASB. Police have spoken to residents nearby and business owners as to how they feel about ASB in the area they live/work. Antisocial behaviour is defined as “behaviour by a person which causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress.” ASB doesn’t just affect one individual, it can have a significant impact on entire communities too. Please report ASB at Report antisocial behaviour | Surrey Police
