Recently, PC Day Scott and PC Lovett who are on attachment with the Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) took some time to engage with the Cub Scouts at the 1st/4th Addlestone Scout Group on Spinney Hill in Ottershaw. They spoke about why they joined the police, answered questions the cubs and the leaders had about the police, showed them what kit we carry and showed the cub scouts around the police cars. Within minutes of leaving, both were back on the streets attending an emergency elsewhere in Runnymede.
Over the weekend officers from Runnymede SNT attended and assisted with Armistice Day and Remembrance Day events across the Borough, including Addlestone, Chertsey and Egham. It is such a privilege for our officers to be part of these important events, and to help ensure they run smoothly. We would like to thank the organisers for putting on such well-coordinated events.
This week, PC Langtree and PCSO Bezubik conducted speed enforcement on Stroude Road, Virginia Water. In just under an hour only two vehicles were detected travelling in excess of the 30mph speed limit - at 37mph and 39mph. However, numerous others appeared to slow down very abruptly on seeing the officers. Hopefully they will be more careful next time they use this road, in case we're there again. This location was selected due to previous serious collisions in which speed was a factor, and numerous resident complaints. This was despite recently installed 'traffic calming' measures. | ||||
