Hate crime is when you’re targeted simply because of who you are, or who you’re perceived to be. This could be because of someone’s sexual orientation, race, religion, disability or because of their gender identity. At Surrey Police we take all reports of hate crime seriously, no one should have to tolerate abuse or discrimination of any kind. We know members of the LGBTQ+ community can be victims of hate crime and our trained LGBTQ+ Liaison Officers will be on hand at Pride in Surrey this weekend to speak to anyone who may have been a victim themselves. Don’t suffer in silence. Speak up and we will listen to you. If you don’t feel comfortable reaching out to the police, you can also report via our third-party reporting system, True Vision. You can find details of the support available to victims of all types of hate crime on True Vision’s website: http://spkl.io/61874lM5h
